After a fight, when things are still stiff
Most make-up plans fail because they try to skip to the good part. This one is built to lower the temperature first and let the conversation happen on its own — or not, if it's not ready yet.

- Low effort
Before you suggest anything
Be honest with yourself about whether you're trying to fix it or trying to win it. If it's the second, wait. A date built on top of an unresolved point becomes a second argument in a nicer setting.
- Start
Outside, walking, side by side — not a table, not face to face
Walk somewhere with no destination. Side-by-side is easier than across a table, because neither of you is being watched while you find the words.
The bit that matters: Lead with the specific thing you got wrong, not a general apology. "Sorry for how I said it" lands; "sorry you felt that way" starts round two.
- When it softens
Somewhere you can sit that isn't home — neutral ground helps
Sit only once it's already easier. Sitting down too early turns it into a summit meeting.
The bit that matters: Agree what you'd each do differently next time, then genuinely stop. Re-litigating the details is the thing that undoes the repair.
What to eat
Nothing elaborate. Eating something ordinary together is a signal that things are normal again, and normal is what you're both after.
Take this with you
Save Deep Talk for a day or two later, not tonight. Tonight is for lowering the temperature, not for going deeper.
